Jeremy Vermilyea has been representing prime contractors, specialty subs, design professionals and owners for nearly twenty-five years. His projects have ranged from a dispute over a small crack in the tile floor of a custom home in Anchorage to multi-million-dollar claims involving subway stations, high rises, highways, bridges, water/sewer facilities and even cemeteries. Jeremy has been recognized in Best Lawyers® for Construction Law every year since 2013, and has also been listed in Super Lawyers® in 2010, 2018 and 2019 in Construction Litigation.

In addition to being a strong advocate for his clients in litigation, Jeremy spends a great deal of time working with his clients to help them avoid costly disputes. He prepares contracts, advises clients about important changes in the law that affect their projects and businesses, and acts as a general counsel to help clients reach sound, informed business decisions.

Jeremy is also an in-demand mediator and arbitrator of other parties’ commercial and construction disputes. Having spent the past two decades “in the trenches” and participated in hundreds of mediations and dozens of arbitrations as an advocate for his own clients, he brings a wealth of practical experience to the dispute resolution process. He recently added to this experience by receiving a certification from Pepperdine University’s Strauss Institute for Dispute Resolution for completing the “Mediating the Litigated Case” program.

When not working with his clients Jeremy is a motorcycle rider – marginally famous for riding his bike into a trade association meeting to introduce a Harley Davidson executive – as well as a cook, a traveler, a wine lover and a dog owner. He is also an avid participant in the communities he lives and works in, having served at various times on the Tigard (OR) Planning Commission, the Washington Board of Advisors for the American Cancer Society, the University of Alaska Fairbanks Alumni Association Board of Directors, the Associated General Contractors Board of Directors and the Oregon League of Minority Voters Board of Directors. Service – to the communities that have supported him and to new generations and disadvantaged communities striving to achieve success – is important to Jeremy. Life is short, and we all have a duty to try to make this a better place when we leave than when we arrived.
